The President of Croatia, Zoran Milanovic, sent a statement stating that he considers the arrival of President Aleksandar Vucic to Croatia impossible, and therefore he decided to cancel the Brdo-Brijuni Process meeting.
“The Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Slovenia, as members of the European Union, initiated the Brdo-Brijuni Process with the aim of improving mutual cooperation and accelerating the European integration process of the countries of Southeast Europe. The meeting of the heads of state of the Brdo-Brijuni Process was supposed to be held this year in May in Croatia,” writes Index.hr.
The political statements and actions of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, which we have witnessed in recent days and weeks, are completely contrary to the goal of the Brdo-Brijuni Process, they damage interstate relations, and they threaten peace and stability in the area of Southeast Europe.
The President of the Republic of Croatia, Zoran Milanovic, believes that in such circumstances, the conditions do not exist and the arrival of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, to the Republic of Croatia is not possible.
As the co-chair of the Brdo-Brijuni Process, President Milanovic decided to cancel the planned meeting in Croatia, of which the heads of state who were supposed to participate in the meeting in Brijuni have been informed. The next meeting of the heads of state of the Brdo-Brijuni Process will be held when the conditions for it are created, after consultations between President Milanovic and the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Natasa Pirc-Musar, as co-chairs of the Brdo-Brijuni Process,” Milanovic announced.
Vucic accuses Croatia of interference in the elections in Serbia
As a reminder, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, stated after last night’s local elections, which were marked by numerous incidents, that he will check the reports of security agencies regarding the influence of foreign states on the elections.
Commenting on the allegations of regime media about foreign influence on yesterday’s local elections, Vucic mentioned the logistical support of a neighboring state, reports Nova.rs.
Responding to a journalist’s question about the alleged presence of cars with Croatian registration plates on election day in Kula, Vucic announced that he would soon present more information. “Regarding yesterday’s elections, it was clear to me how much logistical support was provided by one neighboring state. However, in the coming period, I will receive more detailed reports and then I will share them with you,” said Vucic.
He emphasized that he receives such reports daily and from multiple sources. “Primarily from the Military Security Agency and the Security Intelligence Agency, but also from services that deal with the counter-intelligence protection of our facilities and our military personnel,” he explained.
