Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the citizens of Russia this morning, the day after he signed a decree on the conscription of Russian citizens for military service.
According to Russian media, he congratulated them on the Day of the Entry of the DNR, LNR, Zaporozhye, and Kherson regions into the Russian Federation.
“Three years ago, in referendums in Donbas and Novorossiya, millions of our compatriots made the most important, fateful decision – to be with their Fatherland, with Russia, to return to the family of which they have always been a part,” the President of Russia said.
He added that today, defending that choice, Russian fighters and commanders are going on the attack, and the whole country is waging a just battle.
“Together we defend our love for the Fatherland and the unity of historical destiny, we fight and win, we protect fundamental national interests, shared memory and values, the Russian language, traditions, culture, and faith,” Vladimir Putin added.

This address by Putin came just a day after the Russian president signed a decree on the conscription of Russian citizens for military service in the period from October to December 2025.
The document was published on the official portal where decrees and laws are published.
“From October 1 to December 31, 2025, to carry out the conscription of 135,000 citizens of the Russian Federation aged 18 to 30 who are not in the reserve and are subject to conscription for military service,” the document states.
The same decree also ordered the discharge from military service of soldiers, sailors, sergeants, and officers whose term of military service has expired.
The Russian government, regional authorities, and conscription commissions are tasked with ensuring the implementation of all necessary recruitment measures.
