The family of little Janja Stojanovic from Kragujevac, who suffers from Joubert syndrome and is the only person in Europe with a deadly gene mutation, has been on a humanitarian walk to Belgrade for several days. Jakov (8), Janja’s brother, covered as many as 35 kilometers out of the planned 40 on the first day, showing incredible strength and persistence for a young boy.
“On the second day, he crossed 17 kilometers out of a total of 24 kilometers. Last night we reached Mladenovac, where we were welcomed with great support and warmth from people who follow this story and want to help Janja,” the family states.

As they add, about 10,000 euros have been collected so far, thanks to good people who decided to help and support Janja.
“Tomorrow morning we continue the journey towards Grocka, with the same faith, hope, and desire for as many people as possible to hear about Janja and provide support. This walk is not just a path through cities—this is a path of love from a brother toward his sister and of all the people who decided to stand by Janja,” the family says.
As N1 previously wrote, 48,000 euros are needed so that little Janja can receive a dose of therapy.
The Stojanovics set off on March 9 at around 8 a.m. from the center of Kragujevac.
