The world’s largest aircraft carrier, USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78), passed through the Suez Canal on March 5 and began operations in the Middle East, with the Pentagon releasing photos showing the carrier alongside the destroyer USS Bainbridge (DDG-96) sailing through the canal connecting the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, Fox News reported.
According to the U.S. Naval Institute, another aircraft carrier is expected to be deployed from the United States.
Meanwhile, the aircraft carrier USS George H. W. Bush (CVN-77) completed an exercise on Thursday, the Navy announced.
The warship, its escort, and air wing completed a unit training exercise that all carrier strike groups must conduct before being certified for national missions, the report stated.
