Luna Vujović (16) lifted the trophy in Monastir, Tunisia (15K), becoming one of the youngest Serbian female tennis players with a professional title in her career.
Luna reached the trophy on her third attempt, that is, after two losses in the final, both last year – in Antalya and Banja Luka.
Now in the final, she was better than the Belgian Tamila Gadamauri, with 2-0 in sets after as much as two and a half hours of fighting – 7:6(3), 7:6(6).
The greatest hope of Serbian tennis managed to outplay her opponent, who is ranked over 400 places better and is four years older, and lift the first of many trophies she will yet win in her career.
On the way to the title, Luna lost only one set, and previously Jeger, Lim, Vavrkevic and Petretik fell easily.
This triumph brings Vujović, who is the daughter of football coach Vladimir Vujović, back into the Top 1,000 on the WTA list, and she will have the opportunity for further progress in several other tournaments of the same or similar category in Africa by the end of the year.
