Miša Bačulov, a councilor in the Novi Sad Assembly, was interrogated today at the prosecutor’s office, after which he was released. Although it was requested that he be remanded in custody, the judge did not accept it.

Bačulov was met by supporters in front of the prosecutor’s office, to whom he briefly addressed.

“Everything they have is a lie. We have the truth, and the truth always finds a way. Let’s move on,” Bačulov told the crowd.

He was arrested for assaulting the police at a protest in front of the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad on August 26.

Today, other suspects for the same criminal offenses at the same event were also interrogated. The prosecutor’s office requested detention for the student Pavle for up to 30 days, and the interrogation of the activist Marko was interrupted because paramedics came to examine him.

As the crowd in front of the judicial building was told through a megaphone, he testified that he had sustained injuries from police officers during the intervention.

He said that the police beat him in front of the Faculty of Philosophy and that they then dragged him into the faculty building and continued to beat him there.

According to the N1 reporter, the paramedics came out of the building after 2:30 p.m. They briefly told the crowd that during the examination in the judicial building, they found the same injuries as when the activist was first examined and added that there was no need to hospitalize him.
