On the potential roster of Saša Nikitović, the coach of our U18 national team for the upcoming European Championship, is the name of a young man whose surname can’t be linked to any part of our country. Here’s why…
Alex Alston, a young basketball player of Serbian and American descent, has been included in the list of players who will potentially represent Serbia at the upcoming EuroBasket for players under 18.
Alex’s mother is Serbian, and he chose to play college basketball for the University of Maryland in the NCAA league. Interestingly, he gave himself the nickname “Serbian Sniper.”
Alston earned a spot on Saša Nikitović’s list due to his playing qualities. This young man, who stands 208 centimeters (6’10”) tall, plays as a power forward. Born in 2007, he is left-handed and possesses incredible shooting abilities. Through his mother, he has maintained a strong connection to his roots, and at his club signing presentation, he wore a chain with the word “Serb.”
On average, he recorded 17 points, 9.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and almost three blocks per game. He shot 57 percent from the field and an impressive 45 percent from three-point range.
