Welt journalist Tatjana Om published her view of the incident at the protest in Belgrade on the X network, which is suspected to have been caused by the use of a repressive, controversial, and potentially dangerous weapon – a sound cannon.

“Since there is talk here in Belgrade today about the possible use of a so-called sound cannon, an LRAD device, here’s how I experienced it,” the German journalist writes on X. “I was standing right at the entrance to my hotel and watching 15 minutes of silence. Silence. A confusing crowd of people in front of me. After 12 minutes, suddenly there was a noise, I couldn’t understand what it was, then the horns started, and suddenly a panicked crowd formed in the crowd in front of me,” she wrote.

“I was pressed against the entrance door with others, a completely confusing situation, it took us a few moments to get back to normal, people kept running towards Slavija Park. I felt extreme dizziness for about 30 minutes, a strange inner unrest, I attributed it to the crowd, but it could also be due to use, who knows what it is, as more and more people who experienced it report similar symptoms. In addition to ear pain, dizziness, and sleep disturbances,” she stated on the X network.

To remind you, the Saturday protest in Belgrade was interrupted around 7:10 PM, during the 15-minute tribute to the victims of the tragedy in Novi Sad, after the chaos that broke out in King Milan Street. It is suspected that it was caused by the use of a sound cannon.
