A MIRACULOUS ICON IN BELGRADE: Believers Wait from Dawn Outside the Holy Trinity Church to Venerate the Most Holy Theotokos!

A large number of believers arrived early this morning in front of the Holy Trinity Church in Belgrade to wait and later venerate the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos “Softening of Evil Hearts.” This icon will be on display for veneration and kissing in the church in Tašmajdan today and tomorrow, specifically on Sunday.

As reported by Blic’s reporter on the scene, the faithful welcomed the icon, which arrived at the sanctuary this morning at 8:30, and a large queue stretched all the way to the Main Post Office. After the welcome, a holy liturgy followed.

The arrival of the icon, which many call miraculous, in Serbia is organized on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of the enthronement of Russian Patriarch Kirill.

The icon of the Most Holy Theotokos “Softening of Evil Hearts” represents one of the greatest holy objects of today’s Russia and Orthodoxy. It is also known as “Semistrelnaya” (Seven Arrows), whose myrrh-streaming image is located in the village of Bachurino near Moscow, where a chapel was built for it with the blessing of Hieroschemamonk Ilija. As the Ostrog Monastery writes, when one approaches it, a gentle and pious fragrance is immediately felt, and on the surface, small droplets of “heavenly dew” are visible, scattered across the face, like tiny transparent pearls.

The icon has been myrrh-streaming for 24 years and is rightly called “living,” because it immediately reacts to certain events in society by myrrh-streaming or blood-streaming. It is rarely found in the chapel, where two more icons also myrrh-stream, because it “travels” around the world and heals the afflicted and the infirm.

The icon depicts the Most Holy Theotokos without the God-child, with seven arrows or swords piercing her heart. In this case, seven arrows pierce the body of the Immaculate One, about which the righteous Simeon the God-receiver prophesied, addressing her with the words: “And a sword will pierce your own soul too, so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed,” which signifies the fullness of sorrow, which the most holy Virgin Mary endured in her earthly life.

Anyone who touches this icon of the Most Holy Theotokos does not leave without the gracious help and intercession of the Mother of God.

The Commission for the Scientific Study of Miraculous Phenomena of the Moscow Patriarchate examined the icon. They took myrrh to study its composition. Scientists determined that it is similar to the “sap” secreted by a coniferous tree that grows in warm countries, which has five life-giving properties. Among them: wound healing, antidepressant, etc. They even made a film about it.

Its fame has crossed the borders of Russia.

The fame of the myrrh-streaming icon has gone far beyond the borders of Russia. It has visited the Czech Republic, Italy, Germany, the USA, Australia, Ukraine, and Belarus. The miraculous icon has visited Mount Athos – the Holy Mountain – five times. A temple was built in Cyprus in honor of the icon.

The “Softening of Evil Hearts” icon continues to myrrh-stream. Many hands reach out to it. They reach out to feel the warmth and love of the Mother of God, who knows the pain of every heart that is turned to her Son.
