Vice President of the European Parliament Martin Hojsik addressed the marathon students, who arrived in Brussels this evening. Addressing them from the stage, Hojsik said that the students are the true future, not Aleksandar Vučić, and that they are asking for things they deserve.
“It is very inspiring that you are in Brussels, the heart of European democracy, the fact that you came here on your own feet is a very powerful moment,” Hojsik said at the beginning of his address to the students.
He emphasized that Serbia is at a crossroads and that their march is in opposition to Aleksandar Vučić.

“I come from Slovakia and I know what Fico (Robert, the Prime Minister of Slovakia, note) is doing. Because Slovakia and Serbia belong to Europe. You students are the true future of Serbia, not Vučić. The fact that you are here and that you did not walk towards Moscow is a sign that you understood the message,” said the Vice President of the European Parliament.
Hojsik noted that five months of protests is unprecedented. He added that the students are standing against corruption, that they are seeking the rule of law, accountability, free media, which he said are fundamental things that students deserve. “This is truly European Serbia,” said Hojsik.
He added that the student movement has gone beyond the university and that the student struggle is not only for Serbia, but for values that are dear to Europe.
