Manja Grčić was elected as the director of Radio Television of Serbia at today’s session of the RTS Board of Directors, Danas learns.

Grčić, as media reports state, submitted a certificate at today’s session of the Board of Directors stating that her diploma contains 240 ECTS credits.

The RTS Board of Directors held a session because Dragan Bujošević, whose mandate as general director expired on February 3, did not sign an employment contract, so the public service has no acting director, nor anyone else who can sign official decisions.

According to the Law on Public Media Services, in the event of the termination of the general director’s mandate, the Board of Directors, without delay, appoints an acting general director from among the employees.

Previously, on February 2, the RTS Board of Directors appointed Bujošević as acting director for another six months, but, as mentioned, he did not sign the contract.

Six candidates met the requirements for the competition for the appointment of the general director of RTS: Dejan Stanković, Slađana Ivančević, Miloš Tanasković, Manja Grčić, Stanislav Veljković, and Dragoljub Stankić.

As a reminder, on December 15 of last year, at the 35th regular session, the Board of Directors of Radio Television of Serbia decided to re-announce a public competition for the appointment of the general director of RTS; however, none of the candidates who met the conditions of the competition received the necessary two-thirds majority of votes.

For this reason, the Board of Directors decided to re-announce the public competition for the appointment of the general director of RTS.

Then, on January 26 of this year, at a session of the Board of Directors of the Public Media Institution Radio Television of Serbia, another application for the competition for the appointment of the general director of RTS was opened.

On that occasion, applications were sent via the Post of Serbia until January 16, and arrived at RTS on January 23. The application was sent by Dragoljub Stankić, and the Board of Directors determined that he meets the requirements of the competition.

At that session, 10 applications were opened, five of which were taken into consideration.

The candidates are, as mentioned: Dejan Stanković, Slađana Ivančević, Miloš Tanasković, Manja Grčić, and Stanislav Veljković.

However, at the session held about ten days ago, on February 2, the RTS Board of Directors did not elect a general director, so a new competition was announced for this position.

At that time, Dragan Bujošević was elected acting director, and Stanislav Veljković in the meantime withdrew his candidacy, while the candidacy of Manja Grčić was challenged due to suspicion that the diploma from the University of Leeds, which she submitted for the competition, does not have the required 240 ECTS points.
