A full video of the accident in Budva has appeared on social media, revealing that the young woman from Serbia, Tijana R. (19) from Novi Sad, who died during a parasailing ride, asked for help and to be brought back to the ground. This video raises the question of the responsibility of the people in charge of the rides and that they were obligated to monitor what was happening and react in time.
Tijana R. (19) from Novi Sad died in late May in Budva while parasailing, and the entire case is being investigated by the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Kotor to determine the circumstances under which the tragedy occurred.
The girl fell from a height of 50 meters and was immediately transported by boat to the city marina, where the ambulance crew could only pronounce her dead. The investigation is ongoing, and now a full video of the accident has appeared (we are not publishing the video due to the possibility of public distress) on which it can be seen that the deceased girl asked for help during the flight, but no one reacted.
The question also arises as to how it is possible that those who were in charge of the flight did not notice what was happening during the flight, i.e., they were obligated to monitor. The video raises the question of the responsibility of the people who operate parasailing rides in Budva.
What did the video reveal?
Earlier, the legal representative of the deceased girl’s family made a statement to Blic in which he expressed numerous suspicions.
“As the legal representative of the Radonjic family, and to better inform the public about the event, I will point out that on the day in question, Tijana R. was staying on Slovenska Plaza with her aunt D.G. and her seven-month-old baby, when two people, citizens (of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Turkey), approached them and offered a free promotional parasailing flight, which Tijana accepted. Expecting that it would be at a lower and reasonable altitude, Tijana asked her aunt to film her with her phone during the flight, which she did. These individuals, citizens of Turkey and Serbia, who did not have residence and work permits in Montenegro, did not provide Tijana with even a minimum of instructions and training before the flight itself, in the sense of showing her the planned flight path, how to handle the equipment, and how to communicate with the vessel if she wanted to stop the flight, and besides that, they did not even tell her how long the flight would last,” the statement said.
It was also added that they did not offer her to sign a consent form taking responsibility for the flight.
“After boarding the vessel, for which there are videos, the flight took place at lower altitudes near the coast, and Tijana was visibly in a good mood on the said videos and waved to her aunt, and at one point she landed in the water with the parachute, which should have been the end of the ride. However, shortly after, the vessel turned and accelerated towards Mogren beach, and the parachute with Tijana was raised again, this time much higher and faster. The people who were operating the vessel did not even notice that Tijana was calling for help and waving her arms wanting the ride to stop, and the family found this out from the people who watched the complete flight video from the surveillance camera,” it was stated.
