In the Belgrade neighborhood of Rakovica, on Saturday, February 21 at around 6 p.m., a serious railway accident occurred in which a woman, S. V. (30), lost her life.
The accident happened on a section of track used by a passenger train operating on the Prijepolje–Belgrade route. According to unofficial information, the train struck the woman at the moment she was on the railway tracks.
The train driver stated during the investigation that he noticed the unfortunate woman at a distance of only three meters.
Due to the enormous weight of the train and the short braking distance, the collision was impossible to avoid at that moment.
Emergency medical teams who arrived at the scene could only confirm the tragic outcome.
As a result of the force of the impact, S. V. sustained horrific injuries and died at the scene. According to witnesses, she was a mother of three children.
The competent prosecutor’s office was immediately informed about the accident.
The body has been sent for an autopsy to determine all the circumstances of the tragedy.
Rail traffic on this section was suspended for several hours during the police investigation but has since been normalized. The investigation is ongoing, writes Telegraf.
