Students from Kraljevo, along with colleagues from Novi Pazar, set off this morning on foot towards Kragujevac, where the large gathering “Let’s Meet on Sretenje” will be held on Saturday.

The flags of Kraljevo and Novi Pazar were united in front of the Faculty of Mechanical and Civil Engineering in Kraljevo as the students embarked on their more than 50-kilometer walking route. They plan to meet fellow students from Užice, Čačak, and Gornji Milanovac in Mrčajevci, from where they will continue together to the large gathering in Kragujevac.

“Together with students from Novi Pazar, about 80 of us are heading to Mrčajevci, where we will meet with colleagues from Čačak, Užice, and Gornji Milanovac, and then continue to Knić. We will spend the night there and head to Kragujevac tomorrow,” said Sreten Maloparac, a student at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Kraljevo.

He added that, according to the information they received, about 180 people are coming from Čačak, making the total group around 260 people.

“A serious group of people. If everyone who promised shows up, it should be great.”

Students from the FMG in Kraljevo were among the last to join the blockade, and Maloparac explained that they waited for support from their professors but also faced pressure.

“Well, there was some pressure, and we were waiting for something… to get support from our professors. And, well, that changed. We got the support and decided not to be the only ones not in the blockade. We joined on January 27 and have been organizing protests with high school seniors from the city ever since. We are in contact with them every day,” he said.

When asked if they were ready for the more than 50-kilometer walk, the student responded positively.

“We are ready. The atmosphere here is great. We are all excited and know why we are going,” concluded Sreten.
