The player most responsible for Partizan’s victory over Crvena zvezda and the incredible comeback the previous night was Dwayne Washington, who finished the game with 25 points. The black-and-whites celebrated a 79:76 win in the 15th round of the EuroLeague, overturning a sixteen-point deficit.

After the game, Dwayne Washington stood in front of reporters and gladly answered questions. He was happy that the fans were once again on the players’ side.

– I’m very happy that we won, we really needed this, for confidence and for the fans, for Partizan in general, we know what this means to the black-and-white family. We all know how much the derby means. Tomorrow we’ll rest and continue in the same rhythm.

Bošnjaković gave him the greatest support.

– Mitar, our young guy, told me, “come on ‘Wash’,” on the bench before the fourth quarter started. I took that very much to heart. I got into the right rhythm at the right time and managed to finish the game the right way.

He was asked whether he prefers a win like this or a triumph by more than 20 points.

– Yes and no. It’s always nice when you win convincingly, but there’s also charm in this, coming back after being down. We’ll celebrate tonight, tomorrow we have a day off and we’ll rest, but we have to recover as soon as possible. We’re going game by game and we’ll be ready. Now we’re at a 6-9 record, we’re taking it slowly, we’ll be ready.

He was also asked about the differences under Mirko Ocokoljić compared to Željko Obradović, and he gave an interesting answer.

– He just believes in us, he hasn’t yelled at us since he took over the team, he gives us great support and good advice, he gives us confidence, it’s really good to have him as a coach.

On speculation that he is leaving…

– I heard it and I know as much as you do. I’m here, I’m happy to be here and I’m excited about the rest of the season. I came to play basketball, that’s my job, I’m grateful for the opportunity to be in Serbia and to learn and progress in my career.

In the end, he said that he understands what the team has been through after all the events.

– Man, honestly, we play basketball for a living, that’s my job. I’m grateful to be in Serbia, to continue my career here, I learned a lot about the culture, about Partizan, I understood that it was hard for everyone.

– I needed a little time to understand all of that. I sat down, relaxed, felt that pain and suffering. Now we’re in a better place, we’re moving forward, we have many more games. We’re not where we want to be, but we’re on that path. We will continue to do our job at a high level.
