Aleksandar Vučić stated today that the students in blockade and all political opponents are experiencing “a daily drop in support,” noting that it’s well-known he conducts “serious daily research.”
“Times come when all the social dregs, the sludge, all the worst in a society surfaces. That happened to us in 2000, it happened to us now, and we’ve been through and learned those lessons. And that’s why we’re defeating them,” Vučić said at the opening ceremony of the Preljina-Požega section of the Miloš Veliki highway, where he drove with a group of journalists and ministers.
He said that the “people’s anger” over the blockades is growing, that “people are on edge because they can no longer tolerate this rampage,” but that it’s necessary to prevent people from reacting and incidents from occurring.
He added that the police are “exhausted” but constantly on the ground and will fulfill all their duties, stating that someone “must be an idiot to destroy their own police that everyone pays to maintain order.”
When asked about some politicians announcing they would block this section as well, he said that “it’s a sad story with a sad end for some sad politicians.”
Vučić stated that this section was the most difficult in Serbia’s history to build and proposed that its use be free until July 15.
