Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated today that Jasenovac is the only camp that was never liberated, and, emphasizing that the Red Army also entered Auschwitz, he asked who allowed the Jasenovac camp to operate until May 4th.

At the commemoration of the Remembrance Day for the Victims of the Genocide Crimes of the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) in the Jasenovac concentration camp, at the Donja Gradina Memorial Site, Vučić said he was proud that for another year in a row, the destiny of Serbs, which others had intended for them, was being changed.

“Every year, we change the destiny that was intended for us. By changing ourselves, we ensure the future of our people, and by opposing those who destined us for disappearance, we show that we will live,” Vučić emphasized.

He stated that the Partisans and the Red Army had been in Belgrade for more than seven months, while the “srbosjek” (a type of blade used for mass killings) in Jasenovac continued to relentlessly do its job.

“Victory Day, May 9th, is approaching, and that satan continued to orchestrate the bloody feast, undisturbed and unhindered. Who allowed what the great Gideon Greif calls the Balkan Auschwitz to operate until May 4th? How is it possible that the Partisan brigades did not attack Jasenovac, while the Allies simultaneously bombed Niš, Leskovac, and Podgorica? Who allowed this wonder of a camp, the operation of this wonder of a camp, to be prolonged, to continue, and for almost no Serbs to survive?” Vučić asked.

He stated that because of this, a group of several hundred prisoners from the central Ustasha camp Jasenovac gathered all their despair, turned it into courage and determination, and rushed to freedom.

“Soon after them, another 167, of whom only 11 survived, housed in Camp 4, set off on a breakthrough towards the Sava River, towards life, but also towards the eternity that follows heroism. The rest perished on the barbed wire, in the minefields, hit by machine gun fire, and that is somewhere the end of the story of Jasenovac, the only camp that was never liberated,” Vučić said.

Stating that the Red Army entered Auschwitz, Vučić emphasized that no one ever entered Jasenovac until everything was over, in all of Europe, in the whole world, Tanjug reports.

Vučić: We will build a memorial center in Donja Gradina and in Belgrade

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated today that a magnificent memorial center will be built in Donja Gradina and that Serbia will pay for the largest part of it, as well as the one in Belgrade.

In Donja Gradina, at the commemoration of the Remembrance Day for the Victims of the Genocide Crimes of the NDH, Vučić said that he believed that the idea of building memorial centers in Donja Gradina and Belgrade would be met with enormous enthusiasm from the ministers of the Serbian Government, but it was not.

“Days passed, and there would always be some problem. Either the location or I don’t know what else. Personally, as I said last time, I will take care of it, and I promise you that next year at this same place, you will see enormous progress in everything we are doing. A magnificent memorial center will be built here. Serbia will pay for the largest part of it, and in Belgrade as well. Like when you go to Jerusalem, you first go to Yad Vashem and then you meet with Israeli politicians. It will be the same in Belgrade. First, you visit the place of the greatest suffering…” The President emphasized that Serbia will always be there for Republika Srpska and that they can count on Serbia.

He said that Serbs do not hate anyone, but they love their homeland very much.

“We love everyone else, but most of all, of course, we love our people. I want to tell you in Republika Srpska that they have launched an attack on Serbia so that there would be no one with Republika Srpska, so that there would be no one with our people in Kosovo and Metohija. And now, resistance in Serbia is growing. Their revolutions and the seizure of Serbia from its citizens and its people are over,” Vučić emphasized.
