Officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Belgrade, Voždovac Police Station, in cooperation with the Second Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, have arrested Z. Lj. (19) on suspicion of committing criminal acts of violent behavior and destruction and damage to property. According to reports, he painted graffiti on the Higher School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in Belgrade and then attacked students participating in a blockade who tried to stop him.
“At around 9:35 PM last night, it is suspected that he painted three offensive graffiti in red on the building of the Higher School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in Belgrade. A security guard from the institution detained him, after which students participating in the school’s blockade came to assist. Z. Lj. is also suspected of punching a 20-year-old student in the stomach, hitting a 23-year-old student in the head, and biting him on the arm. Shortly afterward, several younger individuals who were in the company of Z. Lj. arrived at the scene, and they all fled together,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated in their announcement.
On orders from the competent prosecutor’s office, Z. Lj. has been detained for up to 48 hours and will be brought before the prosecutor’s office along with a criminal complaint.

As a reminder, the student plenum of the Higher School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in Belgrade announced last night that an incident occurred in front of the institution, which included “a violent attack on a student and the school’s security guard.”
“An unidentified person drew the silhouette of a middle finger on the school façade, clearly intending to provoke students participating in the blockade. The security guard and students quickly intervened to stop the perpetrator, but they were attacked in the process. The individual did not act alone, as they were accompanied by several others who later joined in and actively provoked conflict with our colleagues,” the students’ statement read.
The students called on all faculties, student organizations, and individuals to join them today at 11:52 AM in front of the Higher School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science to show solidarity, unity, and determination in the fight for students’ rights.
