The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Novi Sad, after questioning 12 suspects in the accident at the railway station in that city, issued an order to conduct an investigation and filed a motion for the detention of all 13, including one person who is abroad.

“Regarding the tragic event that took place on November 1, 2024, in Novi Sad, when the roof of the Novi Sad Railway Station building collapsed, resulting in the death of 15 people and two critically injured, the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Novi Sad issued an Order to conduct an investigation due to the existence of reasonable suspicion that the suspects: J.T, G.V, A.D. and N.Š. committed the criminal offense of a Serious offense against public safety under Article 288 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with the criminal offense of Causing general danger under Article 278 paragraph 3 in conjunction with paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code, and the suspects S.N, M.J, Lj.M.M, M.S, D.J, M.G, Z.S.M, J.S.M. and D.T. committed the criminal offense of a Serious offense against public safety under Article 288 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with the criminal offense of Improper and irregular performance of construction work under Article 281 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code,” the statement from the HPP reads.
After 12 suspects were arrested and questioned, the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Novi Sad, as they say, filed a motion for the detention of all 13 suspects due to the existence of circumstances that, if they remained at large, they could obstruct the proceedings by influencing witnesses and accomplices, that they could repeat the criminal offense, and due to public unrest.
Regarding the suspect J.S.M., in addition to the aforementioned grounds, and due to the fact that she is unavailable to the prosecution authorities, a warrant for her arrest has also been proposed.
