The High Court in Belgrade has ordered 30 days of detention for 13 suspects, including former ministers Goran Vesić and Tomislav Momirović, in the case of the reconstruction of the Railway Station in Novi Sad and the reconstruction and modernization of the Novi Sad – state border (Kelebija) railway, this court confirmed for N1.
As a reminder, the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (POOC) announced yesterday that it had questioned 12 suspects in this case, including former Minister of Transport Tomislav Momirović, former Assistant Minister of Transport Anita Dimovski, and former Director of Serbian Railway Infrastructure Nebojša Šurlan, and that they all denied guilt.
The suspect, former minister Goran Vesić, as stated by the POOC, was not questioned before the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime because medical documentation was submitted stating that he is in hospital treatment. His detention, as N1 unofficially learns, was ordered on two grounds: due to the possible influence on witnesses and the disturbance of the public.
The prosecutor also requested yesterday that a warrant be issued and detention be ordered for the suspect Goran Rosić, the responsible person of “Teco” doo.
All of the aforementioned are suspects within the investigation of the Strike Group for the investigation of financial flows of money related to the project of Modernization and reconstruction of the Hungarian-Serbian railway on the route Novi Sad – Subotica – state border (Kelebija). As the POOC previously announced, they are suspected of enabling the contractor CRIC – CCCC to invoice the total value of the executed works on the project so far in the amount of $1,214,100,460.43 to the financier and investor, as well as to perform additional works for which the obligation of subsequent payment upon invoicing in the value of $64,258,060 was undertaken, by concluding Annex 1 of the Commercial Contract, Agreement 1, and Annexes 2,3, and 4 of the Commercial Contract.
“Thereby, they obtained financial gain for the contractor CRIC – CCCC, in the so far determined value of at least $18,759,287, and caused damage to the budget of the Republic of Serbia in the amount of $115,558,520.43, which represents the difference between the assumed financial obligations for the budget of the Republic of Serbia and the contract price from the Commercial Contract,” the POOC announced after the arrest.
