Horrifying scenes were recorded after a football match in the Guinean city of N’Zerekore, and the information coming in is shocking.
This country traditionally holds a competition called “Mamadi Dumbuja”, and after one match, serious incidents occurred.
In the final moments of the match between N’Zerekore and Labé, a clash broke out between fans and police. This happened after two Labé footballers were given red cards, and one minister allegedly asked for this to be overturned. A penalty for Labé then followed, which enraged the fans who began throwing stones.
The police responded with tear gas, and chaos ensued.
It has been confirmed that there are casualties in the clashes that spilled onto the street, and footage that has appeared on social media shows lifeless bodies on the asphalt. According to some information, at least 100 people are dead.

Following the events, the local political party ANAD released a statement.

“It is with deep sorrow that we have received news of the tragic events that occurred on Sunday, December 1, 2024, in N’Zerekore, during the final of the football tournament for the General Mamadi Dumbuja trophy. According to initial information, these incidents have caused dozens of deaths and injuries. While we await a precise report on this dark episode, we express our sincerest condolences to the bereaved families and to the entire people of Guinea. We also send our wishes for a speedy recovery to all the injured.
However, the emotions that overwhelm us must not prevent us from considering the deeper causes of this tragedy. For some time now, tournaments have been organized throughout the country to encourage and support the illegal and inappropriate candidacy of General Mamadi Dumbuja in the upcoming presidential elections. However, it is well known that Article 46 of the Transition Charter, which he solemnly promised to respect, as well as his honorable obligation not to participate in these elections, clearly prohibits such an act.
The CNRD, and especially General Mamadi Dumbuja, as well as all those who are working to violate this obligation by committing perjury, bear a great responsibility for these serious events. They will have to answer to the people of Guinea.
We call on citizens to learn all the lessons from this tragedy, which happened for no reason, and to unite as one to save our nation at this critical stage of its history.
Together, we must take control of our destiny, which is now seriously threatened. The salvation of our country depends on our ability to unite in defense of our democratic values and in preserving the future of our nation.”
