Pam Bondi, a prominent state attorney general close to Donald Trump, has ignited a firestorm of reactions with her statement that the FBI is reviewing “tens of thousands of recordings of billionaire Jeffrey Epstein with children or child pornography.”

This shocking claim was made to reporters at the White House, just days after a similar statement was made to an unknown individual with a hidden camera in a restaurant.

Bondi stated that the FBI is currently reviewing a vast number of recordings as part of a document review in the Epstein case, while the Trump administration promises to release additional documents from the human sex trafficking investigation. However, the Associated Press reports that neither the indictments against Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, nor other relevant documents, mention the existence of such recordings.

Doubts and Lack of Evidence

Numerous lawyers and officials involved in the prosecution of Epstein and Maxwell claim they have never seen or heard of such a collection of recordings. Although a 2023 court document mentions potentially compromising material found on Epstein’s property, the details remain secret due to a court order.

An investigative report by the AP reveals that the recordings Bondi alluded to are not part of earlier indictments nor were they used as evidence in Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial in 2021, where she was convicted of recruiting minors for Epstein’s purposes, Index.hr reports.

FBI and Department of Justice Remain Silent

The U.S. Department of Justice has repeatedly declined to comment on Bondi’s claims. Spokesperson Chad Gilmartin stated: “It is not known to external sources what is actually included in the review of documents in the possession of the Department of Justice.”

The Epstein case, who died in prison in 2019 under suspicious circumstances, has long been a magnet for conspiracy theories. His connections to powerful figures, including British Prince Andrew and former President Bill Clinton, have fueled suspicions of a cover-up for years.

Elon Musk’s Claims and FBI Rejection

Meanwhile, billionaire Elon Musk further fueled the controversy by claiming—without evidence—that Epstein’s files are not being released because Donald Trump also features in them. That post was quickly removed from social media.

In response to growing public pressure, Bondi told Fox News that “Epstein’s client list is on her desk” and that she has ordered the FBI to hand over “all unreleased materials,” including recordings.

FBI Director Kash Patel, appearing on Joe Rogan’s podcast, rejected claims that incriminating recordings of Epstein’s friends exist: “If such a recording existed, you would have already seen it,” Patel said.

Ghislaine Maxwell’s lawyer, Jeffrey Pagliuka, said that such materials were never provided to the defense team, nor had he ever seen them. “I have no idea what Bondi is talking about,” he stated.

Reports from the U.S. Department of Justice from 2020 show that during a search of Epstein’s Palm Beach mansion in 2005, police found video surveillance equipment, which later disappeared. This information further fuels suspicions about the possible existence of recordings that could compromise powerful individuals.

Lawsuits Against JPMorgan Chase

Adding another dimension to the entire affair is a lawsuit by victims against JPMorgan Chase bank, which allegedly ignored warnings about Epstein’s activities. In that proceeding, lawyers demanded all recordings and photographs that could confirm the accusations. The administrators of Epstein’s estate informed the court that they had found materials that “may contain child pornography,” but details were not released.

Pam Bondi offered no additional explanations. Attorney Jennifer Freeman, who represents the victims, stated: “I have not seen any recordings, nor do I know exactly what she was talking about, but I would like to find out.”

As long as there is no publicly available evidence to substantiate the prosecutor’s claims, the case remains shrouded in mystery—and at the center of fierce political and legal conflicts.
