Serbian tennis player Lola Radivojevic has qualified for the second round of Wimbledon qualifiers, after defeating American Hanna Chang, the world’s 227th ranked player, in three sets, 4:6, 7:6(3), 6:1, in London in the first round of qualifications.
The match lasted two hours and 32 minutes.
Radivojevic, the world’s 173rd ranked player, broke the American tennis player’s serve eight times, while Chang secured six breaks.
The Serbian tennis player recorded five aces, while Chang also won five points directly from her serve.
In the second round of qualifications, Radivojevic will play against Australian Emerson Jones, the world’s 209th ranked player, which is quite a surprise as she defeated Croatian Antonia Ruzic, the world’s 91st ranked player.
Nina Celebrated Against Swiss Opponent
Serbian tennis player Nina Stojanovic has qualified for the second round of Wimbledon qualifiers, after defeating Swiss Susan Bandecchi, the world’s 259th ranked player, in three sets, 6:3, 6:7(1), 6:2, in London in the first round of qualifications.
The match lasted two hours and 13 minutes.
Stojanovic, the world’s 172nd ranked player, broke the Swiss tennis player’s serve six times, while Bandecchi secured two breaks.
In the second round of qualifications, Stojanovic will play against Swiss Rebeka Masarova, the world’s 99th ranked player, who defeated Russian Alina Korneva, the world’s 284th ranked player.
The Serbian tennis player is fighting for her first Wimbledon main draw since 2021, after a series of huge health setbacks.
She also had a serious setback at Roland Garros, where she made it through grueling qualifications, only to have to retire from her first-round match against Amanda Anisimova.
A true miracle now seems very much possible; many players in her situation would have given up, but not her. Nina has gone through all the injuries, problems, and struggles, and now she can finally reap the rewards—with her best Wimbledon result in her career. It would be a great reward for everything she has been through. A deserved reward.
