New U.S. President Donald Trump has appointed Sean Karan, the agent present during the attempted assassination on him in Pennsylvania last July, as the head of the Secret Service, the agency responsible for protecting high-ranking political figures in the United States.

“Sean is a great patriot who has protected my family over the past few years, which is why I trust him to lead the brave men and women of the Secret Service,” the U.S. President said.

Karan acted within seconds during the assassination attempt on Trump, immediately leaping onto the stage to shield him.
