The United States has been shaken by news of a horrific tragedy. Longtime sports journalist and reporter who covered the NHL, Jessi Pierce (37), tragically died together with her three children in a fire that engulfed their family home in Minnesota, officials announced.
The NHL said goodbye to its longtime associate with an emotional message:
“The entire NHL family extends its deepest condolences to the Pierce family on the passing of Jessi Pierce and her three young children. Jessi loved our sport and was a valued member of the NHL.com team for a full decade. She will be deeply missed.”

Local media report that the fire department in White Bear Lake received a call on Saturday just before 5:30 a.m. They were alerted by neighbors who noticed flames coming from the roof of the house, expressing concern that the residents were trapped inside.
Upon arrival at the scene, fire crews found the building fully engulfed in flames. Fire chief Greg Peterson described the event as an unprecedented tragedy.
“Our deepest sympathies go out to everyone affected by this unfortunate event,” Peterson said.
Jessi Pierce was a prominent figure on the hockey scene in Minnesota. Over the past ten seasons, she regularly reported on Minnesota Wild games for the official NHL website. Before that, she worked for The Athletic and was one of the hosts of the popular podcast “Bardown Beauties.”
