Young man Daris Gegić, originally from Tutin, is one of four severely injured people from Serbia in the fire that broke out on New Year’s night in a bar in Crans-Montana, Switzerland.
- Daris, who lives with his mother in Sion, Switzerland, was seriously injured during the fire which, as suspected, broke out after pyrotechnics caught the ceiling of the venue. For now, it is not known exactly what injuries the young man sustained, and what is known according to the latest information is that during the fire he suffered severe bodily injuries and was transported by helicopter to Germany accompanied by medical staff, and is now undergoing hospital treatment in Berlin – a media source stated, adding that his mother is with him.
On an online platform dedicated to collecting aid for victims of the fire at the Crans-Montana ski resort, financial assistance was also being raised for the young man from Tutin. Daris Gegić is not the only injured young man from Serbia; in addition to him, Predrag Janković from the area around Ljig and Meldin Mehmedović from Novi Pazar were also injured.

The tragedy in Crans-Montana claimed 40 victims who have so far been identified, while 119 people were severely injured and sustained serious burns. The injured victims were transported throughout Switzerland as well as across Europe. As learned, there are many injured people of Balkan origin in the fire in Crans-Montana.
Due to the great tragedy, an investigation has been launched against a married couple from France, who have been running the bar where the tragedy occurred for more than ten years. They are charged with the criminal offense of involuntary manslaughter, as well as attempted involuntary manslaughter.
