The documentary film “Brother” in honor of the legendary Dejan Milojević premiered at the International Festival of Sports Film in Zlatibor. One of the most impressive moments is when the best shooter in the history of the NBA league, Steph Curry, talks about the revolutionary play that the Serbian coach drew.
The Golden State ace shared a story related to his first “buzzer beater” in his career. Against the Houston Rockets in January 2022, the Warriors triumphed with a score of 105:103, and Steph hit the winning shot at the sound of the buzzer. The inbounds play that preceded it was a play that Dejan Milojević drew up.
“That was Deki’s play, we still call it that,” Steph Curry said in the documentary.
A great playing and coaching career that ended too soon
Dejan Milojević passed away on January 17, 2024, as a result of a heart attack. The Serbian public was waiting for him in the national team coach’s position, but unfortunately, that will never come true. We found out in the hardest way what a great influence he had in the NBA league and in the Golden State Warriors where he was a beloved coach and brother. He arrived in the strongest basketball league in 2021 after he had worked wonders with the Mega team.
As a player, he left the biggest mark on Partizan, where he played from 2004 to 2006, and he wore the jerseys of Valencia, Galatasaray, FMP, and Beovuk, where he started his career. He was a regular member of the national team, with which he won a gold medal at the European Championship in 2001.
