The young hope of Serbian tennis, super-talented Dušan Vukosavljević (8) from Zvečan, is making waves.

Eight-year-old Dušan Vukosavljević, a member of the Zvečan Tennis Club, is consistently winning tennis tournaments and dreams of one day becoming the world’s top-ranked player.

Dušan impressed the tennis public with his brilliant performances at the international “Belgrade Trophy” tournament. The super-talented boy from Kosovo and Metohija achieved his latest victory against a competitor from India, thus opening the door to the final world tournament, which will be held in Poreč in September.

Diligent in training, the young hope of Serbian tennis told Kosovo Online that he was confident in his victory at the tournament.

A Young Professional’s Perspective

Like a true professional, he analyzes the Belgrade final. “The semifinal match was tough. My opponent had six match points in a row, and I only had two, and I used the second one. I knew I would win because I watched what my opponent’s weaknesses were,” says the candid boy, who competes in the Under-10 category.

He admits that he most enjoys sparring with Žarko Nedeljković. He loves tennis, doesn’t pick and choose exercises in training, and never finds traveling difficult.

“During training, we first warm up, do exercises, and spar. It’s not hard for me to travel; I think about the match. After training, I go play with my friends, then home for dinner, and I go to bed at 10 o’clock,” says Dušan.

He would love to live in Belgrade but is particularly attached to Zvečan; he was born there, and his friends are there. His biggest wish is to be the best on the planet. It’s no surprise that his idol is Novak Đoković, who is also an honorary citizen of Zvečan, and whose family originates from that very place.

Coach’s Pride and Future Prospects

Coach Goran Vasić states that Dušan is a diligent and motivated boy who eagerly awaits every training session. “We came before the sun started scorching. Given that it’s warm days, we have to arrive on time. He is, of course, ready. An hour ago, his father sent a message asking when I would arrive, saying he couldn’t wait. While I water the court, he warms up,” says Vasić.

At the “Belgrade Trophy,” which was international in character, Dušan competed against a player from India, and by winning the final, he earned the right to participate in the world tournament in Poreč. Previously, as a seven-year-old, he was the best in the country at the red level, and now he has a record of 36 wins and 8 losses.

Vasić also mentioned that Dušan was exceptionally noticed at the camp led by Novak Đoković’s godfather, and that other talented children are also excelling at the club, such as Kalina Milutinović. “It shows how good he is; he continues to work and progress. Compared to last year, when he also won at the red level, when he was the best in the country, he just kept going. A lot of serious work and progress,” emphasizes Vasić.

The Zvečan Tennis Club currently gathers around 30 children, and its work is supported by the Provisional Organ of the Municipality of Zvečan, the Tennis Association of Serbia, and the Tennis Association of Belgrade.
