Humanitarian and athlete Marko Nikolić, who climbed Aconcagua, ran across one of the harshest deserts in the world – the Atacama, as well as the icy Arctic, and then pulled a car for as much as 45 kilometers, managed to raise the full amount of 141,000 euros for the treatment of three seriously ill children.
-The full amount has been collected. For Vuk. For Pavle. For Ognjen. Behind me are thousands of kilometers that cannot be put into words. Four stages, one after another. Deserts that burn the skin and break the spirit. The Atacama – where the sun takes your last atom of strength, and you keep going because there is no turning back. The Arctic – where the cold enters your bones, where every step hurts, where you breathe on the edge. Wounds, blisters, blood, swelling. Nights without sleep. Days without strength. And moments when the body says “I can’t anymore”, and the heart replies: “You must”. A mountain that takes your breath away. From -20 to +30, then back to -20 – Nikolić wrote on social media.
He pointed out that one of the toughest challenges was pulling the car:
-I pulled a car for 45 kilometers in less than 24 hours, when my legs had long since given out. A battle against weight, wind, against myself. Every meter felt like a kilometer. But I did not stop. I could not, because this was never about me. My heart is full. I gave everything. Absolutely everything a man can give – Nikolić said, adding emotionally:
-Friends, we did it. The mission is complete. And remember – in the end, strength does not win. Neither does the body. Love wins. And love will save the world.
Nikolić, who has so far helped numerous families, revealed to Kurir that part of the funds was also provided by his foundation “Together We Can”.
-More than 141,000 euros have been collected. The full amount for Pavle and Ognjen has been secured, while we donated the remaining 10,900 euros for Vuk, thus completing the funds needed for his treatment as well – Marko said.
As a reminder, within the humanitarian mission “With Heart for Three Lives”, Nikolić climbed Aconcagua, reached the Colera base camp at 6,000 meters above sea level, ran 500 kilometers through the Atacama, then 203 kilometers through the harsh Arctic, and finally pulled a car for 45 kilometers in less than 24 hours.
The goal of this mission was to raise money for the treatment of Pavle Stojanović, Ognjen Vučić, and Vuk Jelenković – which, thanks to the tremendous support of people, he ultimately achieved.
