Helen Sula is a travel blogger, an American who travels around Europe and shares her impressions and observations. She recently visited almost the entire Balkans and summarized her strongest impressions in one video.

“I’ve been to (almost) every Balkan country — and formed impressions. Some were magical, some chaotic, some served me the best bread of my life. Did I rank them fairly? Probably not. But was it fun? Absolutely,” she wrote, starting her segment with – Serbia.

“Serbia has a tough exterior with many communist buildings, but a great nightlife in Belgrade, and Novi Sad is absolutely lovely,” she noted. However, she had a few more words for other countries.

About Bosnia, she says she didn’t expect to like it so much. “The war history is still very present, and tours in Sarajevo opened my eyes,” emphasized Helen, who also visited Mostar.

Albania, she says, shocked her the most, and more than the beautiful beaches, she liked the Albanian Alps, while she describes Slovenia as clean, green, and surprisingly efficient. “Lake Bled looks like it’s photoshopped, you’ll wonder if you accidentally wandered into Switzerland,” she points out.

However, after confirming that “Romania is not just Dracula” – mentioning fairytale scenes, Bucharest as “little Paris,” and the hospitality of its citizens – she singles it out as her favorite Balkan country.

She presents Montenegro as “a small country of great beauty,” while she says that Croatia is the most popular for a reason, also the most expensive. “But you can find incredibly beautiful beaches, islands, the best olive oil in the world, incredible architecture, and excellent food.”
