The young water polo national team of Serbia won the silver medal at the European Championship for players up to 18 years of age, which was held in Oradea, Romania. In the final, the selection of Montenegro celebrated with the result 13:9 and thus came to their third title of European champions in this age category.

The Montenegrins had the advantage throughout the entire match and deservedly came to the gold, with an impressive six victories in as many matches.

The Montenegrins were dominant throughout the entire tournament. Interestingly, they recorded their first one against Serbia at the start of the championship (9:8).

Luka Pejović shone in goal with as many as 14 saves, while Gojković (the best player of the championship), Bošković, Stipar, and Vukanić were an unsolvable enigma for the Serbian defense.

Serbia parried well in the first quarter, but the crucial period of the match followed in the second. Bošković with two quick goals led Montenegro to +3 (5:2), and by halftime, the score went to 7:3.

In the third quarter, Serbia briefly threatened by reducing the score to 8:6 through Canepe and Urošević, but a new wave of goals from the Montenegrins followed – Gojković, Stipar, Bošković and Vukanić hit Serbia’s net for a convincing 12:6 before the last period.

The opponent wisely preserved the advantage and with a goal by Moračanin 83 seconds before the end set the final 13:9.

Montenegro finished the championship with all six victories, while Serbia, after as many as three defeats in the group stage, showed character and strung together three victories in the eliminations and reached the grand final.
