Podgorica resident Danilo Mandić (35) turned himself in to the police last night after allegedly wounding fellow citizens Darko Perović and Aris Turković during an incident in the city center.
The police announced that they have solved an attempted aggravated murder case involving two victims and that the suspect has been arrested.
One source from Vijesti stated that the nephew of the President of the Assembly, Andrija Mandić, arrived at the police station accompanied by a lawyer. Danilo Mandić also serves as the bodyguard of his uncle.
According to the Police Directorate, the incident occurred yesterday morning around 3:40 a.m. on Ivan Crnojević Boulevard in Podgorica. In addition to the charge of attempted aggravated murder, Danilo Mandić is also charged with illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosive materials. He was arrested on the order of the prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica.

“D.M. is suspected of, on April 19, at the aforementioned time, at the intersection of Marka Miljanova Street and Ivan Crnojević Boulevard, blocking the victims’ path with his vehicle after they exited a hospitality venue. Once the victims exited their vehicle, D.M. fired several shots at them, wounding them in the leg area, and then left the scene. By undertaking criminal and police-prosecutorial actions, D.M. was quickly identified and voluntarily appeared at the premises of the Podgorica Security Department, after which he was taken into custody on suspicion of committing the stated criminal offenses,” the police reported.
According to unconfirmed information from Vijesti, Perović and Turković were admitted to the Emergency Ward of the Clinical Center of Montenegro.
