The Croatian football club Vukovar 1991 terminated the contract with the young goalkeeper Srdjan Nedic (18), who was supposed to defend in the upcoming match against Dinamo Zagreb.
The club made this decision after learning that Nedic follows profiles on Instagram that they consider controversial.
Among other things, Nedic followed a profile called “Chetniks 1941”, which in its description has “Official page of patriotism”, “Patriotism and love for the king and the fatherland. Kosovo Serbia”, written in Cyrillic. He also follows the profiles of FK Crvena zvezda and KK Crvena zvezda.
The club issued an official statement, which we are transmitting:
“HNK Vukovar 1991 hereby wants to inform the public that, immediately upon learning of actions that are not in accordance with the values and standards of our club, it took decisive measures and terminated the contract with player Srdjan Nedic in the shortest possible time. As a club that is based on respect, responsibility and integrity, we believe that such behavior is not acceptable and does not represent the values we stand for.
We apologize to all our fans, partners and the public for not taking all the necessary steps in time to protect the dignity and reputation of the club. Although we make great efforts for the professional behavior of all our members, it is important to emphasize that we do not have control over the private content and activities of individuals outside the club’s framework.”
Nedic, born on December 27, 2006, in Vukovar, came from Cibalia two years ago. He was expected to make his debut for the senior team in the match against Dinamo, scheduled for Friday at 9 p.m. at the Maksimir stadium, as part of the second round of the SuperSport HNL.
Due to the injury of the first goalkeeper Antonio Djakovic, Nedic was supposed to defend against Dinamo. However, that will not happen due to the termination of the contract.
