The conflict in the Middle East has entered its seventh day, which began with new airstrikes by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) on Tehran and Beirut, CNN reports.

While Israel intensifies operations against Iranian infrastructure and Hezbollah positions, in the political background a struggle is unfolding for the future of Iran’s leadership, in which the White House has also become directly involved.

With the conflict spreading to Gulf countries and an increasingly deep energy crisis threatening global markets, the region is facing complete destabilization, while the international community is urgently evacuating its citizens from war-affected areas.

Intensive attacks on Tehran

Israel has launched a “wave of large-scale strikes” on the Iranian capital.

Explosions lit up the sky above Tehran from Thursday evening until Friday morning, and footage confirms numerous columns of smoke rising from the city center.

According to the Iranian Red Crescent, densely populated areas were hit, including a popular shopping street and the Shahid Boroujerdi residential complex.

It is reported that more than 3,000 homes and 500 commercial centers were damaged, as well as hospitals, the Tehran bazaar, Azadi Stadium and Mehrabad Airport.

Operations in Lebanon

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) carried out 26 waves of strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut, targeting Hezbollah command centers and drone storage facilities.

The order to evacuate almost the entire southern part of Beirut, where more than half a million people live, caused complete chaos and traffic congestion as residents tried to flee the city.

The struggle for a new Iranian leader and the role of Donald Trump

A temporary three-member council leading Iran is preparing to present a new supreme leader following the assassination of Ayatollah Khamenei last Saturday.

While a power struggle is underway within Iran, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he must be involved in the appointment of the new leader and that he already has candidates he considers suitable.

Trump emphasized that he will not accept a successor who continues the current policy, while the Israeli defense minister previously warned that any new leader would be a target for elimination.
