Two Serbian citizens were injured when their “Volvo” vehicle went off a cliff about 20 meters high near Valencia, Spain.
They were spotted by a cyclist who saw “a boy climbing and asking for water.” Emergency services dispatched two rescue helicopters.
The sister of one of the injured contacted Kurir and stated that neither she nor the Serbian embassy has any information on the condition of the injured.
One injured Serbian citizen was transferred to Ribera hospital by helicopter, while a helicopter from Castellón took care of the other, more seriously injured person, and transferred them to La Fe hospital in Valencia.
Cyclists who were training on the winding road noticed the wreckage that had plunged down the cliff and raised the alarm, Levante writes.
Alberic Oscar Moscardó, one of the cyclists, said he saw something strange and noticed the vehicle’s airbag and a person screaming, asking for water.
“I decided to stop and I saw a boy trying to climb the mountain and asking for water. The echo made his screams sound as if they were far away,” he explained.
After the fall from the cliff, the two injured persons were found outside the vehicle.
According to Moscardó, a member of the Civil Guard was surprised that the cyclist managed to spot the wreckage and pointed out that if they had not seen the accident site, the injured might not have been rescued.
The Civil Guard presumes that the traffic accident occurred early in the morning, which is why the injured were at the bottom of the cliff for several hours.
The mayor of Tous, Cristóbal García, explained that the accident happened practically on the first curve of the mountain pass that descends towards the old town, where the vehicle had apparently gone off the road and crashed down the embankment.
