At the 18th International Olympiad in Astronomy and Astrophysics held in Mumbai, India, students from Serbia won five medals – two silver and three bronze.

Silver was won by students of the Mathematical High School Mihailo Radovanović and Pavle Ignjatović. Bronze was won by Neda Živanović, a student of the Svetozar Marković High School from Niš, Jovan Kulezić, a student of the Mathematical High School, and Dušan Lazić, a student of the High School in Kraljevo.

The team leaders were Dr. Milan Stojanović from the Astronomical Observatory in Belgrade and Dr. Stanislav Milošević from the Department of Astronomy of the Faculty of Mathematics, University of Belgrade.

In addition, they won third place in the competition for the best poster. The poster was inspired by Milanković’s calendar reform.

63 teams from all over the world competed in India.
