Orthodoxy knows no borders, and now the time has come for Serbian spiritual tradition to have its permanent home in Ireland.
With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Nektarios of London and the British-Irish Diocese, a major fundraising campaign has been launched to purchase an Orthodox church in the southern part of the Emerald Isle, near the city of Cork.
This is a unique opportunity to convert an existing building permanently for Orthodox worship.
“This space, with God’s help and our collective effort, will become a spiritual home for current and future generations—a place that preserves identity, faith, and culture, while also serving as a space open to dialogue, meetings, and goodwill,” the organizers of the campaign emphasized.
The property being considered for purchase is located in Knockmacool, strategically positioned about 40 kilometers from Cork city center and approximately 80 kilometers from Killarney. Such a location will allow for regular services for believers throughout southern Ireland, who until now have had to travel long distances to fulfill their spiritual needs.
The appeal is open to everyone who can help, regardless of the donation amount. The campaign organizers note that cash donations are particularly important at this stage, as a larger portion of ready funds directly impacts negotiations and enables achieving a more favorable final purchase price.
Donations can be made via the GoFundMe LINK HERE.
With faith and unity, the Serbian Orthodox community in Ireland believes this endeavor will succeed. Orthodox Serbs on the edge of the Atlantic will gain their spiritual stronghold, leaving a lasting mark on the map of the Orthodox world.
