Serbia has a new world champion! National team member Vasilija Borovićanin won another gold medal for the Serbian national team at the World MMA Championship, held this year in Al Ain under the auspices of the IMMAF federation.

“I feel great! I prepared for this for ten months, and all the effort paid off,” stated Borovićanin, to whom the world federation, after she won the title, formally presented a gold jersey, symbolizing her champion status.

Among more than 1,045 registered competitors from over 55 countries, Borovićanin dominated the Youth B up to 67 kg category, achieving four victories: against Ava Tyrie of Wales by unanimous decision, then against Anastasiia Shulha of Ukraine via arm triangle choke, against Fernanda Sebastião of Angola by split decision, and finally against Daisy Bowers of England, again by unanimous decision.

This is Vasilija’s second gold medal in the last six months, after she also triumphed at the European Championship in Belgrade, held in February 2025.

Although they didn’t reach the medals, Serbian fighters Vukašin Kunaica and Vanja Simić showed exceptional combativeness and bravery in very strong international competition.

The performance of the Serbian national team continues. In the coming days, the following fighters will enter the octagon: Amir Karišik, Jana Vučićević, Ognjen Alfirović, Vuk Maksimović, Danijel Grbić, Strahinja Galetić, Teodor Jakovljević, and Nemanja Blagojević.

All matches can be followed on the Arena Fight channel every day until Sunday, which marks the final day of the competition.
