Music experts in Serbia have no doubt: since Stefan Milenković, the country has not seen a more talented musician than young piano prodigy Mihajlo Stojanović (14)!

Mihajlo is still in elementary school but has already received invitations to perform in some of the world’s most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall in New York and the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he is expected to perform this year if everything goes according to plan.

Stojanović is an excellent student in the 8th grade at the “Stevan Dukić” school in Belgrade and the 1st grade of the “Josif Marinković” high music school, studying under Professor Tijana Blagojević Casarsa, who has nothing but praise for him:

“Mihajlo’s success is an exceptional example of how natural talent, combined with hard work and love for music, can lead to great results, even at a very young age. As his teacher, I have had the opportunity to follow his development from the very beginning, and I can say that Mihajlo possesses a rare combination of natural musicality, extraordinary discipline, and deep artistic maturity,” Professor Blagojević Casarsa told Serbian Times.

Over the past four years, Mihajlo Stojanović has won more than 25 awards in national and international competitions in Italy, France, Russia, the USA, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and North Macedonia.

“I would especially highlight his victory at the Citta di Minerbio international competition in Italy. This competition attracts very strong international contenders and is an important reference in the world of young pianists,” added Blagojević Casarsa, emphasizing:

“What makes Mihajlo’s achievements even more remarkable is that they came despite very modest living conditions and limited resources for practice. He does not have an acoustic piano at home, practicing instead on an electric keyboard, and can only play a real piano at school when classrooms are available. Despite these obstacles, his progress is incredible, showing how willpower and love for music can overcome all challenges.”

In the coming months, Mihajlo has been invited to perform in London (Royal Academy of Music), Berlin (Kammermusiksaal of the Philharmonie), Tokyo (Kawai Concert Hall), and New York (Carnegie Hall), as well as at a festival in Florence, Italy. However, his family’s modest income makes it impossible to fund these trips.

For this reason, his teacher has made a public appeal to people of goodwill who appreciate art—and Mihajlo’s talent and dedication—to help him perform at these prestigious concerts.

MODEST CONDITIONS, BIG DREAMS: Mihajlo Stojanović

“As a person and as a teacher, I can promise these donors that the money will go to the right hands and purposes—as support for an extraordinary talent that our country has not seen in a long time,” she said.

Anyone who wishes to help the young pianist can donate through the GoFundMe platform via THIS LINK! Every contribution, big or small, will be immensely valuable to Mihajlo.

Recently, Mihajlo also had the great honor of appearing as a special guest in front of thousands at a concert by Vlado Georgiev, who introduced him and played a recording of his performance. The audience gave him a standing ovation, after which Mihajlo addressed the crowd, as can be seen in the video.

“I am proud of his achievements, but even more pleased that Mihajlo shows sincerity and deep connection with the music on stage. That is what audiences always recognize and what makes each performance special. I believe this is just the beginning of an important artistic journey. With continued work, support, and opportunities to develop his talent in better conditions, I am confident that his musical voice will grow stronger and more recognizable,” concludes Mihajlo’s teacher, Tijana Blagojević Casarsa.
