Renowned actor, director, and musician Rade Šerbedžija spoke to Klix.ba about his new project, as well as his views on the current political situation in Serbia.
Rade Šerbedžija reflected on the widespread issue of self-censorship and revealed whether he had ever been inclined toward such a practice.
“I have never had problems with those things, because I never even thought about self-censorship. I was always in the front lines whenever we protested against anything. It is in the nature of every true artist to be rebellious and a sharp critic of the authorities and all negative phenomena in society. That is why no government has ever particularly liked me, but I managed to get through all maladjusted and dangerous situations, so today I am a happy man,” he said.
He also spoke about the student movement and social unrest in Serbia.
“I believe they will create a better world in which they will live free from the past that we, their fathers, could not escape. I do not wish to interfere in their rebellion, although I publicly support them through my interviews and concerts,” he stated.

Šerbedžija also commented on the necessity of ecological protests and activism in the Balkans.
“It is the sacred duty of every inhabitant of this Earth to get involved in the defense of our planet, which is seriously threatened by global self-destruction. This is the last moment to save it, to begin defending it from pollution, and to take seriously the dangers our planet Earth is exposed to. Perhaps new generations will succeed in finding ways to serve their civilization and create a better and more beautiful world,” Šerbedžija concluded in his interview with Klix.ba.
