Ukrainian anti-corruption authorities carried out a search this morning at the home of Andriy Yermak, the head of the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) announced. According to the NABU statement on Facebook, these “investigative actions (search) are authorized and being carried out as part of the investigation.” It was also stated that more details will be published later.
Meanwhile, Yermak himself spoke out, confirming the search on his Telegram channel.
“There are no obstacles for the investigators. They were given full access to the apartment, my lawyers are on site and are communicating with the law enforcement officers. For my part, I am providing full assistance,” Yermak emphasized in the statement.
According to footage on the website of “Ukrainska Pravda,” about 10 officers from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) entered the part of Kyiv where government buildings are located. On November 10, NABU and SAPO announced the results of a corruption investigation in the Ukrainian energy sector, which was dubbed “Midas.”
The activities of a high-ranking criminal organization were documented, whose participants built a large corruption scheme to influence strategic state-sector enterprises, especially “Energoatom.” According to the investigation, several Ukrainian officials are involved in systematic money laundering and illicit enrichment, and the scheme was headed by businessman Timur Mindich, a former business partner of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Ukrainian Minister of Energy Svetlana Grinchuk and Minister of Justice German Galushchenko resigned after their names appeared in the investigation.
