A big scandal happened during the 3rd round of the Champions League qualification match, which was played at the “Todor Proeski” stadium between Shkendija and Qarabag, as shouts and chants of “Greater Albania” were heard from the stands.
Despite the appeals and warnings from the authorities that this should not happen during the match, it happened in the end.
This is not the first time that Shkendija fans have caused scandals. At the match against Brera, they did not even respect the minute of silence in honor of those killed and injured in the tragedy in Kočani.
Maybe that’s why they were defeated by Qarabag with a score of 1:0 the previous night.
Qarabag took the lead in the 18th minute from a penalty, which was awarded after a VAR intervention, and the goal was scored by Tural Bayramov.
The return match will be played on August 12 in Baku, and Shkendija will certainly be a big outsider against the hosts then as well.
