Savo Manojlović, leader of the Kreni-Promeni movement and head of its council group, announced that a Belgrade City Assembly session has been scheduled for tomorrow, October 13, to discuss the dismissal of Mayor Aleksandar Šapić.
“We have just been informed that a City Assembly session has been scheduled for tomorrow to dismiss Aleksandar Šapić, based on the request we submitted together with other opposition councilors,” Manojlović stated.
As a reminder, opposition councilors submitted a request on October 7 to convene an extraordinary session of the Belgrade City Assembly, proposing the dismissal of Mayor Aleksandar Šapić.
A total of 41 councilors signed the request, including 21 representatives of the Kreni-Promeni movement, as well as representatives of the Green-Left Front, the Movement of Free Citizens, the Democratic Party, the People’s Movement of Serbia, New Face of Serbia, the MI movement and the Ecological Uprising.
The initiative to dismiss the mayor was launched following an incident in which, according to the allegations, Mayor Šapić physically attacked councilwoman Tatjana Mićić and her husband, leaving the Kreni-Promeni councilwoman with a broken nose and jaw.
Opposition councilors requested that the city parliament discuss the mayor’s responsibility at a session of the City Assembly.
