“With unimaginable pain, we inform you that our beloved daughter Nina passed away on October 6th in Toronto due to a car accident. She is now among the Angels, as her name suggests”, reads the obituary signed by the bereaved, mother Mirjana, father Nebojša, brother Momčilo, and uncle Borislav and aunt Jelena with children Milica and Milan.

Nebojša Čonkić Čonta was born in Novi Sad in 1953. He was one of the most important authors and creators of the New Wave music scene in Yugoslavia in the early 1980s, as the leader of the band “Pekinška patka”.
After releasing two albums that became part of the anthology of Serbian and Balkan rock and roll, the band ceased to exist, and Čonkić continued his academic career, working as a professor at the Electrical Engineering School Center in Novi Sad.

He moved to the Canadian city of Toronto in 1994, where he teaches computer science at the Canadian state university Seneca.
The Serbian Times editorial staff extends its sincere condolences to Nebojša Čonkić and his family.
