Prince Filip Karađorđević is visiting the Hilandar Monastery on Mount Athos, for the first time with his son, during which a memorial service was held for Vožd Karađorđe, the progenitor of the dynasty, on the day of his murder.
Prince Filip Karađorđević informed the public about the details of his visit to Hilandar through his social media accounts.
“At my fervent requests, Abbot Metodije and the venerable brotherhood of Hilandar served a memorial for Vožd Karađorđe on the day of his treacherous murder, as well as for all deceased members of our Royal family. That prayer was more than a memory; it was a covenant we pass down from generation to generation,” the prince announced.

Prince Filip Karađorđević also wrote that part of the visit holds special historical significance for him:
During our stay at the Hilandar Monastery, we experienced a moment that holds deep spiritual and historical meaning for me.
“My son, Prince Stefan, set foot in this holy place for the first time. In his hands is a silver cross that my great-great-grandfather, King Petar I, donated to Hilandar on March 29, 1910. The cross was custom-made in Imperial Russia, decorated with finely wrought details, precious stones, and an inscription, and represents one of the most valuable gifts the monastery has received in modern times. It is kept in the altar of the great Hilandar Church.
This is the first time in history that two generations of the Karađorđević dynasty are staying together in Hilandar. I am proud that Stefan, from his earliest days, has the opportunity to feel the strength of our spiritual heritage and to walk a path that connects faith, history, and service to the people. May the Lord preserve Hilandar and all who carry it in their hearts,” reads the post by Prince Filip Karađorđević.
