“When an Albanian throws stones at a full bus of Serbian pilgrims in southern KM (Kosovska Mitrovica), he gets a report for property damage. When a Serb wears a T-shirt with the image of Prince Lazar, he goes straight to prison with an accusation of spreading national and religious intolerance. That is what Kurti’s ‘rule of law’ looks like!”
This is the reaction of the head official for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia, Petar Petković, to an incident in South Mitrovica.
Namely, on Monday around 5 PM, in front of the Saint Sava church in the southern part of the city, an unknown man threw a stone at a bus carrying pilgrims from central Serbia and damaged a window.
The pilgrims improvised a repair for the broken glass and continued their journey.
Kosovo Police detained the suspect and took statements from witnesses.

After the interrogation, he was released, and proceedings were initiated against him for “property damage,” Avni Zahiti from the KP for the South region confirmed yesterday for KoSSev.
The Saint Sava church, which was burned and devastated during the March Pogrom in 2004, has been guarded by the Kosovo Police since liturgical life was restored ten years ago. Renovation work on the church began in 2014, and the following year the first priest, Saša Mitrović, moved into the renovated parish home with his family. He was then replaced by Father Nenad Stojanović, who still lives in southern Mitrovica with his wife and five children – as the only Serbian family in this part of the city.
Despite the difficult circumstances, liturgical life is slowly being renewed, and an increasing number of believers come to the church, especially on Sundays and major holidays.
