Partizan basketball players defeated the Bayern Munich team on the away court in the match of the 23rd round of the EuroLeague with a score of 67:63 (7:18, 25:16, 18:16, 13:17).
The team from Humska played an excellent quarter and led by 11 points, however, Bayern came back and it was equal before the final period.
Partizan was better in the finish and broke a streak of seven losses in the EuroLeague.
This victory gains even more significance if one considers the lineup Partizan fielded in Bavaria. Coach Joan Peñarroya had huge personnel problems, because due to injuries and illness, he could not count on Duane Washington, Vanja Marinković, Carlik Jones, Nakić, Milton, and Parker. Bayern was not complete either, as Stefan Jović and excellent shooter Andreas Obst were absent, but the home team was considered the favorite.
Partizan, however, showed seriousness and energy from the very start that had not been seen for a long time. The black-and-whites dominated in the first quarter, the defense functioned flawlessly, Bayern struggled to score points, while the guests hit from the outside and controlled the rebound. Such an approach brought an 18:7 lead after ten minutes of play.

In the second period, Bayern increased its aggressiveness, primarily with the entry of Wenyen Gabriel, so the home team managed to catch up and reduce the lead to 34:32 by halftime. Partizan managed to hold on in the third quarter as well, Cameron Payne started playing well, and Sterling Brown also contributed, even though Bayern managed to overturn the result on several occasions.
A crisis occurred at the beginning of the final period when Partizan’s shooting completely stopped, which Bayern used to lead 54:50. Nevertheless, unlike previous games, the black-and-whites did not fall this time. Energy, combativeness, and the loud support of fans from the stands helped Partizan come back and enter a dramatic finish with the lead.
With a minute and a half to go, the guests had a plus five, and the key moment happened when Cameron Payne scored for 67:58 and it seemed the match was decided. However, Partizan complicated the situation again with a series of errors, allowing Bayern to close in at 67:63 and have an attack in the final seconds. Fortunately for the black-and-whites, the home team failed to capitalize on the last opportunity.
The most efficient in the ranks of Partizan was Cameron Payne with 16 points, along with four rebounds and assists each, while Sterling Brown added 11. For Bayern, Jessup stood out with 13 and Gabriel with 12 points. For Partizan, this victory could mean a turning point and a much-needed injection of confidence for the rest of the season.
