The opposition Group of Citizens (GG) “Jedan tim” (One Team) in Lučani and the Self-Organized group of youth and students from Lučani and Guča “Mladi u blokadi” (Youth in Blockade) condemned the “physical and verbal attack” on the priest of the Lučani church, Dalibor, and demand the resignation of the president of that municipality, Milivoje Dolović.
Due to the attack on the priest, a large citizens’ protest was held in Lučani last night, supporting priest Dalibor and demanding the resignation of the president of the Lučani Municipality.
“We strongly condemn the incident, unheard of since the time of communism, when, according to our sources, in Lučani, the president of the municipality, Milivoje Dolović, visibly intoxicated, in the company of a no less intoxicated SNS assault trooper from another city, verbally and physically attacked the priest of the Lučani church, Father Dalibor,” states the GG “Jedan tim” in their statement. The GG adds that, according to their information, the reason for the attack on the priest was the recent welcome of students in the parish home in Lučani.
“We call on the competent authorities to investigate the mentioned case and call the perpetrators to account,” states the GG “Jedan tim” in the statement, and also calls on the Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Porfirije, to condemn the attack on the priest and protect him.
“Mladi u blokadi” also supported priest Dalibor and condemned the attack on him.
“We are deeply concerned and outraged by the verbal attack on priest Dalibor, which was carried out by the President of the Municipality, Milivoje Dolović, and several other persons,” state “Mladi u blokadi” in their statement.
They strongly condemned “every form of violence, pressure, and disrespect towards the clergy and anyone who contributes to the community with their actions.”
