The horrific murder that shook the Serbian community in America, in which a man of Serbian origin stabbed a woman to death, inflicting more than 20 wounds, has taken on an even more tragic dimension after testimonies from people who know his family.

A source from the Serbian community revealed to Serbian Times that a long-standing family drama lies behind this crime.

“I know this family, I have not encountered a more tragic one here. They were expelled from Croatia, were refugees in Serbia, and came here through the mediation of the International Organization for Migration,” our interlocutor stated.

According to him, the parents of the suspect have been experiencing a series of misfortunes for years.

“The parents are desperate because the tragedies have no end. One of their sons died about 15 years ago from a drug overdose,” says our source.

He adds that the son who is now suspected of murder was known for problematic behavior.

“He had an ankle monitor, he was very problematic. He was in prison several times. He was mostly held accountable for violence against women,” our interlocutor said.

Nor was the deceased brother, according to him, without problems.

“That late brother was also in prison because of a traffic accident he caused, which had a fatal outcome,” he adds.
