Ivanjica potato, cultivated in most rural households, is undoubtedly a symbol of Ivanjica. Hosts with proud yields gathered in the village of Katići, where the traditional “Days of Ivanjica Potato” event was held in the elementary school premises. The best producers of this vegetable, the most successful potato dishes, and a lecture on the need to protect and adapt this production to climate change were awarded.

“According to the jury’s decision, the title holder for the largest yield this year is Tomislav Jovanović from Čepovi. He produced five wagons per hectare and mainly grows the ‘Mamfis’ and ‘Arizona’ varieties. The award for the largest tuber, weighing 1.6 kilograms, was won by Miroslav Radojičić from Katići, who says that this is not uncommon. The climatic conditions are favorable, and the tradition of cultivation is also maintained. The trophy for the most unusual potato went to Milivoje Zarić. Ivan Stojković was declared the largest producer this year, and Nikola Mutavdžić is the youngest grower, say the organizers of the event.”
Awards were also given for the most successful potato dishes, with first place going to Dejan Glintić for potato pie. Bojana and Vera Adžić were awarded for the most unusual taste of the dish, and Radosava Stevanić for the best dessert. “The technical school had the best decoration, and Rada Gavrilović had the most diverse dishes and desserts, while the school from Katići and Močica won third place for the best dish and dessert.
